On Feb. 1, the "Solving riddles, winning lanterns" event for the 2023 Lantern Festival was held in the Third Community of Changqing Gardens in Dongxihu District. The Lantern Festival, the 15th day of the first lunar month of the traditional Chinese calendar, will fall on Feb. 5 this year. At the event, various traditional Chinese customs including solving lantern riddles, eating tangyuan （glutinous rice dumplings） and tanghulu (sugar-coated hawthorn berries), and sugar painting attracted many residents to participate. With the cheerful sound of gongs and drums, the dragon and lion dance performed by the residents in the community satiated the audience's eyes.
